Checking a transceiver

The Check transceiver screen is the starting point of the online application. It reads the module identity and diagnostics and presents them in a readable form.

What it reads

When a module is inserted (or the simulator provides one), the app reads its memory and shows:

• Identity — vendor, part number, serial number and form factor.
• Capabilities — supported rates, wavelength, reach and connector type.
• Digital diagnostics (DDM) — live temperature, supply voltage, laser bias and

optical TX/RX power. See DDM basics.

Reading a module

1. Insert the transceiver into the programmer (or connect the simulator).
2. Open Check transceiver.
3. Review the identity block at the top and the DDM values below.
4. To edit memory, continue to the Editor.

Status colours

Diagnostic values update live while the module is connected. In simulator mode the values are representative sample data.
